Toxic

Angry words
are pushed
down my throat
forcing me to
swallow the bitter
poison contained within.

Belatedly
walls rise
to protect
heart,
spirit,
mind.

Hot
venom
fills blood cells
courses
through veins; is
pumped into then
rejected by heart.

Teeth clench
throat opens
attempting to
keep the toxin
from spewing forth
from mouth.

I marinate in
emotions.
Hearing and vision
distort.
Impaired I search for
meaning,
truth,
kindness,
love.

Failure
thickens walls,
increases toxicity,
increases impairment.

Paralyzed mind,
paralyzed body
collapse
shattering walls,
releasing toxins.
Eyes focus on
the new landscape
within.
